DGFX spearheaded a multi-team scrollytelling collaboration with Wall Street Journal reporters and photographers investigating America's liquefied natural gas infrastructure. The visual framework combined geospatial analysis, 3D technical visualization, and animated global trade patterns to reveal the scale and reach of LNG operations.

Interactive maps plotted LNG deposit locations across the United States, contextualizing extraction sites within demographic and infrastructure layers. Custom 3D schematics illustrated the complete LNG supply chain—from extraction through storage facilities to loading terminals and specialized tanker vessels. These technical visualizations made complex industrial processes accessible while maintaining engineering accuracy.

The centerpiece animated global shipping routes, visualizing LNG tanker traffic patterns across Atlantic, Pacific, and Arctic routes. Real vessel movement data revealed trade relationships, seasonal variations, and the infrastructure supporting global energy distribution. Scroll-controlled interactions let readers explore different aspects of the supply chain at their own pace.

The project required coordination across reporting, photography, and interactive development teams—DGFX led visual strategy and technical implementation, ensuring seamless integration of multiple data sources and media types into a cohesive narrative experience.
